GOOD DAY EVERYONE!

Jamuary is over, and I've amassed 16 new tracks. I'd aimed for 20, but with starting a new job on the 22nd, I had to drop productivity a lot.

I split my time over singer/songwriter songs, piano loops, and 'shed theory' style ambient trap.

  • Ambient trap was a fascination that started right at the end of 2023, and I really think that keygen yandex keygen was the amalgamation of that process. Easily my favourite that I did in that style. It would be a good song for a Flash Forward movie, but honestly, I don't know if I'll have enough time. Jobs kinda suck!

  • The piano loops were mostly experiments, really just meant to practice chord progressions, theory etc. I think some would be worth revisiting and fleshing out into bigger songs, and some best left as they are.

  • For the singer/songwriter stuff, I did one original and three covers. Because of my set up, recording can be a bit of a pain, and honestly these four were the most frustrating to make. But of course, looking back, these four are easily my favourites. If I did another challenge like this, I would want to focus on this style.

My key takeaways:

  1. Doing a bunch of little projects instead of one or two big projects is more conducive to growth, even if some of the results are mid.
  2. Sometimes the process sucked - Jamuary lost its charm around day 6, honestly - but the outcome was worth it.
  3. Doing the things I cared about the most were the most rewarding. It can be fun to follow tutorials and try something new, but the results will be a lot less interesting down the line.
  4. Quality/performance vs. time can be a tough battle, but truthfully, the nitpicks you have in the process probably aren't as serious or as noticeable as you think.
  5. Similar to point four - striving for perfection, or a specific idea, is more arbitrary than I like to believe. Some things just take time and practice, too.

Anyway y'all, hope you had a good Jamuary. Stay tuned for when I post some family guy art (yes that is serious)
